Disruptive behaviour in the university classroom is a concern for Course Directors and students alike. Simply put, disruptive behaviour is any behaviour that hampers the ability of instructors to teach or students to learn. Many faculty members feel that incidents of incivility and other disruptive behaviours are rising. Thus, in this workshop, we will examine common disruptive behaviours, investigate best practices for the prevention of these behaviours, and list strategies and suggestions for dealing with disruptive behaviours should they occur.
