3 practical tools for blended courses : Adobe Connect, TED-Ed Lessons & PollEv

Swann Paradis

This presentation aims to illustrates with practical examples 3 different tools used successfully over the 2016-2017 academic year in a “traditional” 4th year French literature course transformed into a “blended” format, thanks to an AIF Category II fund (2015). Adobe Connect sessions, homemade screencasts — animated PowerPoints and Prezis — and existing YouTube videos (converted into TED-Ed lessons) and live polling (PollEv) will be presented. Drawing from the Moodle course page (eClass Glendon), I will review how those resources can be an efficient way to support a blended course, and I’ll try to pinpoint some of the pitfalls to avoid for any course instructor wanting to go “hybrid”. I’ll identify as well as some advice regarding a minimal “digital literacy” level needed before jumping into the "blended" world.
